Mark Minervini's Technical Criteria
This educational tool demonstrates Mark Minervini's trend template - a systematic way to identify stocks in confirmed uptrends.
Why This Matters: Rather than picking stocks based on hype, news or 2nd hand recommendations, learning to recognise technical patterns helps you understand when a stock is in a healthy uptrend versus when it's breaking down. The goal here isn't to guarantee profits, but to increase your edge and avoid obvious traps.
Mark Minervini's 8 Technical Pattern Criteria (Educational)
These 148 FTSE ALL SHARE stocks currently show all 8 criteria simultaneously. Study them to understand what a properly structured uptrend looks like:
- Price above key moving averages - Stock trading above both 150-day and 200-day averages
- Moving average alignment - 150-day above 200-day (confirming uptrend structure)
- 200-day trending upward - Not declining (higher than 20 days ago)
- Short-term strength - 50-day above both longer averages
- Recent price action - Current price above 50-day average
- Not near lows - At least 25% above 52-week low
- Still has room - Within 25% of 52-week high
- All criteria together - The power is in the combination
